Wondering what to do with your little one? Well, there are activities you can do at home that will encourage their artistic side and development that do not have to cost a fortune. You can create fun arts and crafts projects out of things you have around the house.
Don't throw your plastic milk containers away! Instead, you and your child can turn them into a fun bucket for them to collect their Halloween treats in. Get your child to draw a fun pattern around the top half of the milk container and then the adult can cut this pattern and you have the basis for your child's Halloween container. Next take some orange construction paper and get your little ones to draw a pumpkin or ghostly shapes. It will be safe for the children to cut this one out themselves. Then add glitter or whatever you want to the pumpkin and with some glue, attach it to the bucket. It's that simple!
But you don't need to wait for Halloween to be creative with arts and crafts projects. Every child loves painting, and using watercolors is an easy way to get them started, not to mention water based paints are washable! A fun twist on the standard water painting is to put the painting they have done in the rain, and this will create new shapes and kids will love watching the colors run into the puddles. It's super messy fun! Kids also love playing with potato stamps. You can carve a fun shape out of a potato for your kids to stamp with by cutting a potato in half, drawing a shape onto the exposed insides of the potato and then cutting around that shape leaving the design so that it is raised on the surface. Then all you have to do is pour some paint into a saucer and watch your children have hours of fun making an artistic mess!
There are great books available that offer a wide range of arts and crafts projects for parents on a budget and with a little bit of imagination, your child will be unstoppable with their creations.
